About

The Metro-Boston Diaper Drive is organized by local moms Kerstin Sinkevicius and Kim Jalet.  Since its inception, the Drive has collected over 200,000 diapers and wipes and helped thousands of families in need.

Kerstin and fellow local mom, Aimee Mills, were inspired to organize a diaper drive after reading this heartbreaking article, originally published in 2013.  Kerstin and Aimee met through the the Somerville Moms Yahoo Listserv group, a parenting forum popular at the time with members in Somerville and beyond, thus the Diaper Drive was called the Somerville Moms Diaper Drive for its first several years.  A third local mom, Kristen Cox, provided her design expertise for the first website and flyer designs.

In 2016, after volunteering since the beginning, Kim joined Kerstin as the co-coordinator.  In 2018, recognizing that the Drive has expanded beyond its original Somerville focus, they decided to rename the Drive the Metro-Boston Diaper Drive.  Kim’s husband, Brian Jalet, helped with the website and logo redesigns.

The Metro-Boston Diaper Drive is successful thanks to generous donors, the businesses and schools that have hosted diaper donation boxes, volunteers, the Somerville WIC office who distributes the diapers, and the parents who organize it and have helped through the years.
